Restoration of the landscape topography

This programme aims to restore the undulatory morphology of the landscape by reconstructing the dune hillocks and abrasion platforms of the second ridge of dunes, as well as an important network of malladas.

The procedure will involve the execution of actions contrary to those that caused the degradation of the area: the sand which at present is covering the depressions corresponding to the malladas and the abrasion platforms will be extracted to be used to construct the dune hillocks. For this reason, the regeneration of the malladas and the ridge of dunes are entirely interconnected.

Thus, 73,077 m2 of malladas and 548,895 m2 of dunes will be regenerated.

Reforestation with plant species

The areas included within the project scope will be fixed with fences and reforested with native plant species. This way, the natural plant colonization process can be accelerated and the loss of sand during windstorms reduced.
