The method of reproduction being used is SOWING. Juniper seeds undergo a slowing down of the germination process since they are affected by a physiological lethargy (internal lethargy + impermeability of its head). The sowings will be carried out in conditions of controlled light, temperature and humidity appropriate to favour germination (conservatories, shady areas), in suitable containers (trays, seedbeds), to encourage stratification in a natural way at room temperature for at least 17 months (approx 2nd or 3rd spring).

The seedbeds used will be deeper than 18 cm, in order to allow optimal root development. The seedbeds remain for up to 3 years in the nursery.

The seeds will be covered with a thin layer (2/2.5 times the size of the seed) of a finely textured substrate, such as sifted sand or grounded peat which allows spouting.

The seedlings obtained during the long process of germination (3 years) will be transplanted into flowerpots of Ĝ 16 x 15 - 2,5 L, and remain in shaded areas for at least one more year, thus providing enough time for the consolidation of the cepellón (lump of earth around the roots). Later they will be transported to sunny areas where they will reach at least 2 years of age until they are used later in plantations.

The sandy substrate both in the seedbed and the container will be identical to the one in their natural environment, with a maximum mixture of 20% of blond peat, used to diminish the loss of substrate due to excess drainage, and owing to its porous characteristics.
