The Project for the “Restoration of coastal dunes with Juniperus spp in Valencia” is a Life-Nature project, cofinanced 50% by the City Council of Valencia and the European Union, its main objective being the recovery of the maritime juniper habitat (Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. macrocarpa). To this end, the geomorphologic restoration initiated with the Life Duna project will be completed in an area of la Devesa de L’Albufera of Valencia, between the Gola de Pujol (channel) and the Golf course.

This restoration entails the reconstruction of the dune hillocks and abrasion platforms of the second ridge of dunes, as well as the recovery of the network of small lagoons known as malladas. Thus, this will mean the complete regeneration of an area of la Devesa which suffered important alterations during the 60s and 70s.

Together with the geomorphologic restoration, the Project includes a dynamic campaign for the promotion and the environmental education of citizens to encourage participation, as well as to communicate the necessity of this work of regeneration.
